...why is this a good thing? I *wish* we had red light cameras in downtown Wichita. People don’t give a rats ass if the light just turned red they’re crossing the intersection anyways. As a pedestrian, it’s unnerving.

t was a pain in the ass. I had to fight on once because it claimed i ran a red light when I didn’t the car in front did and i admit i was on the white line, but that’s not running a red light. wasted a day to fight this BS. Screw those things, either you saw me do it or I didn’t, I don’t run red lights ever so don’t waste my time because a system claims I did something I didn’t because it got a photo with my plate in it.

I think I’m with you. I think they increase the fear of running a red and make people more likely to slam the brakes on when they see a yellow. But even if it causes a rear-end accident, the amount of side-on and pedestrian accidents that otherwise happen due to running reds probably makes it a worthy tradeoff.
